Are Aliens Among us?

I have found the recent UFO (now called UAPs) revelations a bit curious. The media is acting like this is something new. The public is surprised the government is studying UFOs? Ever hear about Project Blue Book? Since the end of World War II, this topic has entered the public mind ever so often. The cyclic nature of UFOs is something to keep in the back of your mind. It makes this all seem orchestrated. Why, at certain times, are the flames of UFO encounters fanned?

I’ve already explained the unlikelihood of aliens visiting Earth, but getting past that, we need to first address a problem in ufology. Many researchers, though not all, seem to start with the assumption that UFOs are extraterrestrial life from other planets. The problem with this assumption is it colors these studies. For example, we often hear UFO sightings increased after WWII due to humans acquiring nuclear weapons. The aliens are supposedly here to monitor us and stop us from destroying civilization.

Why would aliens, so much more advanced then us, care if we had nuclear weapons? Why are these advanced beings crashing all of the time? Why are they mutilating cattle?

None of it adds up. The exponential increase in technological research during the Cold War, much of it secret, is a much more rational explanation. Many UFO accounts, when looked at a little deeper, appear rather terrestrial from a technological aspect. Even events like the iconic Roswell crash, with its alleged alien bodies, has a terrestrial explanation, one that’s more diabolical than aliens harassing us (see the work of Annie Jacobsen and Joseph P. Farrell). What then of the whistleblowers who claim they have access to secret sources about UFOs?

In the 1980s, Bob Lazar revealed he had worked at a site associated with Area 51 where they were reverse engineering alien spacecraft. He also claims to have glimpsed strange bodies that may have been alien. I undertook a meta study of Lazar, and looked at a number of Lazar’s interviews, documentaries and writings. His story has stayed remarkably consistent over the decades, and he doesn’t come across as a deceiver, nor has he benefited financially in a significant manner. As a whistleblower, though, the government has largely left him alone. Here are what I think are the potential interpretations concerning Lazar:

  1. What Lazar is saying about aliens is true, and the government had recovered spacecraft.
  2. Lazar misidentified and misunderstood what he saw and worked with.
  3. The government wanted Lazar to believe there were aliens, when they weren’t, so he would spread misinformation to cover up classified projects.
  4. The government and Lazar, together, spread misinformation and there aren’t any aliens.

All things considered, I suspect it is #2 or #3. What about others in this UFO space like David Grusch, Luis Elizondo, or Steven Greer? Even when people have solid credentials, as many of these people do, it still comes down to “a guy says he knows a guy who knows another guy who heard from a guy that the government has alien spaceships” as astrophysicist Adam Frank wrote. We see a lot of secret sources, things that were seen but cannot be revealed, etc. Are these people being unknowingly used to spread disinformation? Are the efforts of some, like Greer, influenced by their own personal beliefs? Is the government about to use the alien scare as way to control us, as Werner Von Braun warned many decades ago? Whatever the case, over the past seventy years, no whistleblower or person with access to secret knowledge has brought us closer to evidence of aliens visiting Earth.

What of the small percentage of UFOs that can’t be explained away as misidentifications, frauds, or terrestrial technology? Astronomer Hugh Ross calls these RUFOs: Residual Unidentified Flying objects. These, as professor Diana Pasulka discovered in her research, are “UFO contact events [that] include supernatural and paranormal elements that influence people’s lives” much like similar events throughout history she had found in ancient archives, though those weren’t described as UFOs.

In part 3, we will take a look at what these encounters may be. Is there a part of this world our ancestors intimately knew, which we have relegated to myth?

Our Leaders Have Failed Us

Human Civilization Could End in Minutes

When you realize the leaders of the world spent decades planning for the genocide of humanity – and still have such plans in place – if you had any iota of trust in government left, it will certainly leave the rational mind.

This is what makes Annie Jacobsen’s new book, Nuclear War, so disturbing. In it she details a scenario, based on declassified documents and interviews with government officials, in which a nuclear war unfolds. For decades, government leaders around the world knowingly and willingly made plans for the genocide of the human race. As Jacobsen has stated, “No matter how a nuclear war starts, it ends with everyone dead.”

Ronald Reagan had said, “A nuclear war cannot be won and must never be fought.” This is why he initiated the missile defense program, a technologically difficult program to shoot down nuclear ballistic missiles. It would be well into to the 21st Century before a limited, and problematic, system was deployed. Many of the same politicians casual in their planning for Armageddon, don’t seem to care about protecting their people from attack. Had missile defense had been taken seriously, had trillions not been spent on endless wars, could we have a robust missile defense system? Would Reagan’s dream of rendering nuclear ballistic missiles obsolete be a reality?

Throughout the Cold War, as described in 15 Minutes, close calls were abundant. Nuclear weapons were used carelessly and fielded in every way the military could imagine. Any weapon system could be made nuclear was made nuclear. Military planners advocated for preemptive nuclear war against enemies, as if nuclear attacks are self-contained and don’t impact the entire world. Now, in our own time, politicians once again toss around using nuclear weapons as if it comes with zero consequence. A world where war has been turned into another social program, the potential of nuclear conflict is quickly reaching Cold War levels.

As Jacobsen wrote, “Nuclear war is insane…The whole premise of using nuclear weapons is madness. It is irrational. And yet here we are.”

Perhaps people should put down their phones, shut off their televisions, and take control of their governments, and pay attention for once.

Once the missiles are launched, there will be no second chances.

When Fiction Becomes Fact

In Among the Shadows, many of the characters have learned to use the energy that burns inside them — for good and evil. There are those that can see into the minds of others, cross the barriers raised by time or manipulate matter. Fiction right?

Or is it?

Annie Jacobsen‘s latest book in her fascinating series on Cold War black projects, Phenomena, will make all but the most hardened skeptics think twice.

For decades, the U.S. Government spent millions in researching the practicality of using people who could remote view distant places or influence people with their mind. Note that I didn’t write that they were just determining if these things could be done — they employed people who proved they had unique abilities.

This isn’t a new revelation, but Jacobsen has interviewed dozens of those involved and uncovered newly declassified documentation. Thousands of papers still remain off-limits, so she’s probably only scratched the surface here. However, as with her previous books — Area 51, Operation Paperclip, and The Pentagon’s Brain — Jacobsen has weaved together another masterful narrative history of black box projects. These topics are often the favorite target of conspiratorial and fringe researchers, but this is the real deal.

Or, as a skeptic might ask, is this some elaborate psyop perpetuated by the government against its enemies? If it is, this is the most convincing one ever and the skeptics haven’t shown they are correct.

It’s easy to wave one’s hands and say, “It’s all a fraud!” Annie Jacobsen has laid out the detailed case of why this is all something very different from fakery. She isn’t taking sides, but is surprised at what she finds, and writes, “There is no question that man is extraordinary, each of us a phenomenon.”

Indeed, fact may very well trump fiction.

Deal With the Devil: Operation Paperclip

Long a student of the history of space exploration, I knew of the Operation Paperclip (often called Project Paperclip) to bring rocket scientists to the U.S. after WWII from Germany. Never thought much about it until more studies on WWII and the Cold War started to reveal more about these scientists. Not all were innocents caught up in their nation’s war.

Some were part of the Nazi Machine.

Indeed, even when it was exposed in the ’40s that hundreds of these scientists, doctors and engineers were coming to America, protest was raised. It was largely too late. Records were scrubbed and classified. The people themselves remained quiet and evasive on the subject of their past until their death. While some Nazis to this day are hunted down in their old age, some were allowed to be free, in the open. Perhaps the most bizarre example of cognitive dissonance ever known, and widely at that. But most don’t know the whole story.

Annie Jacobsen remedies this in her new book, Operation Paperclip: The Secret Program that Brought Nazi Scientists to America. She isn’t the first to write on Paperclip, but perhaps the most thorough. She has brought new materials to light as more has become unclassified and through interviews with Paperclip family members and others with first hand knowledge.

I thought I knew a lot about the program, I didn’t. The twisted policy of chasing down prison guards in their 90s while other individuals were in effect acquitted. Some became American heroes. I have read of Von Braun and other rocket scientists who oversaw the V-2 production sites were thousands of prisoner-slaves died, but many know little of this. Jacobsen’s account will force you to look at our space heroes quite differently.

It wasn’t just the builders of rockets, however. Doctors involved in the Reich’s human experiments, experts in chemical and biological warfare and others were also spirited away by Paperclip. Most of these men lead productive lives contributing to our country. Others, though, were part of questionable state-sponsored activities here. In either case, Jacobsen writes this for us to ponder:

The question remains, despite a man’s contribution to a nation or people, how do we interpret fundamental wrong? Is the American government at fault equally for fostering myths about its Paperclip scientists — for encouraging them to whitewash their past…When, for a nation, should the end justify the means?
