AI: Useful Tool? Yes. World-ending Tech? Also, Yes.

“This logic is if I don’t build it I will lose to China. But if the thing I would build would be a suicide machine, then I don’t beat China by building a suicide machine.” – Tristan Harris

Tristan Harris, formerly of Google, and one of the featured experts in the exceptional documentary, The Social Dilemma, has many important revelations in this interview on AI.

As he states, many things can be true. Some fears about China “winning” the AI race are true, others are not. Some are much worse. Such as this: Since AI has already shown an increasing ability to hack just about anything, is the U.S.’s plan to digitize and modernize the nuclear arsenal and a good idea?

Ever hear of Skynet or see the recent Mission: Impossible films? Fiction is quickly becoming fact.

Most people are woefully ignorant on AI:

Why are people racing headfirst into paying for data centers which are ultimately intended to replace their jobs? These are not built for your monthly subscription to ChatGPT. If your career is information-based – accountants, lawyers, programmers, even teachers – your days are numbered. You are paying for your replacements.

AI cannot become sentient, but it certainly can fool people that it is human, or someone can manipulate it to do so. Already, AI has convinced people to commit suicide, others to have relationships with it. Imagine if the elite ruling class used AI wield control, take over religions, through the fabrication of some AI entity, as an alleged friend or foe? Forget the dying UFO-psyop, AI will be far more effective in creating a new villain or false prophet. Don’t fool yourself that the puppetmasters aren’t already thinking about this.

This isn’t about fear-mongering. This is about understanding what “24th Century technology crashing down on 21st Century society” can and will do if people treat AI like another new update to their phone.

You could be updated out of existence.
