The Machine Vs. Humanity

“We find ourselves in the age of AI and apps for everything, with CCTV cameras on every street corner, our opinions manufactured by interest groups, our communications tracked and monitored, wondering what is true or who we can believe, and feeling, day by day, like we have less agency, less control, less humanity than ever before.” – Paul Kingsnorth, Against the Machine

The Machine has been growing for centuries: The Age of Reason, the Industrial Revolution, the Computer Age, Artificial Intelligence…Little and large jumps forward.

Now, rapid acceleration and massive changes are at our doorstep.

“The quest for perfection is a quest for homogeneity and control, and it leads to the gulag and the guillotine.”

Many have warned of this day. It was a long time coming. A time where we stand at a crossroads and decided to preserve and restore humanity, or enter some unrecognizable, dystopian age of transhumanism.

Kingsman’s book, Against the Machine, truly is “a spiritual manual for dissidents in a technological age.” Every so often, a book like this comes along, and you better read it, and then read it again

“We built the Machine to run the world for us. Now the Machine runs us.”
